Panic filled Carrie...what had she been thinking?
She hopped out of her chair as the patrons and her waitress began to writhe and twist, their bodies warping.
She bolted inside, leaving the patio and its now-carnivorous occupants, hoping for relative safety inside the restaurant.
The inside of the restaurant was equally crowded, possibly moreso than the outside, but everything seemed safe.
Steeling her nerves, she walked to the hostess' stand, still wanting to pay for her meal.
The interior seemed much like a Chili's or an Outback Steakhouse, set up much like a sports bar, she noticed. Large, flat-paneled televisions lined the walls, and hung from the ceiling, affording any patron a view if they looked in nearly any direction.
Carrie reached the hostess' stand, relieved to find a cash register sitting to the side. At least she'd be able to pay her bill. A friendly, smiling face greeted her; a statuesque, young, blonde woman waved her over. "You all ready to pay your bill?" She asked.
"Yeah," said Carrie, glancing around to see if there was a side exit she could slip out.
"Okay..that'll be $21.15," the hostess told her.
Carrie only glanced away for a second, digging in her purse to find her wallet. When she had her money out, she turned back around to find the girl eerily transfixed, staring at a nearby screen. "Umm, here you go?" Carrie said, recognizing what was about to happen. She glanced at the screen, though she already knew what must be on it. On over forty televisions, the same image was displayed: that of the full moon.
"Sorry," said the hostess with a husky undertone in her voice, "Before you get your change, I have to have mine." All around Carrie the staff and patrons were succumbing to the transformation, tearing at their clothes. Men, women and children were all enthralled in the change, ignoring all else. The hostess eagerly shed her humanity, her body swelling and tearing the seams of her uniform shirt.
Carrie looked for some way out, though she was running out of options.
