Two teenagers walked into the shop. Aaron, the boy, was seventeen and, while a dabbler in many subjects, primarily a computer geek. He looked the part, too; he wasn't horribly out of shape, but he was clearly not the athletic type. Lisa, the girl, was sixteen, but only a couple months younger than Aaron. She was also a geek, but more of the bookish variety, and the fact that she was also an amateur ballerina left her in significantly better shape than Aaron. Most of their peers assumed they were a couple, but they were in fact just good friends, and had been for a very long time.
"You're not really expecting to find anything of value in a 'magic shop?'" Aaron asked, keeping his voice low in case the proprietor was listening.
Lisa shrugged. "I'm not going to jump to the conclusion that there's a lamp in here with a genie in it," she replied, "but we might find something of interest. Besides, you just never know." She laughed.
Aaron smirked. "Well," he said, "I'll believe in magic when I see it."
Lisa smiled. "Nothing wrong with a little healthy skepticism." With that, they headed over to the shelves to browse.
