Digging through a bin of assorted costume jewelry, Aaron pulled out a little pendant on a necklace. It was pretty simple, really; just a pair of birds' wings made from mother-of-pearl, but the styling was pretty slick, less Precious Moments treacle and more a believable pair of wings for flight purposes. He held it dangling from his fingers, strangely drawn to it.
Lisa came over to him. "Hey," she said, "you wouldn't believe this, but they've got LPs new in the packaging. Nobody I've ever heard of, though; does the name 'Loup-Garou' mean anything to you?"
Aaron studied the album cover, which depicted a mighty wolf-man creature standing over the fallen body of a Gaulish warrior. "Eh, looks like some sort of French hair metal."
She nodded. "Wonder if this 'Full Moon Rising' is a take on 'Bad Moon Rising?' Anyway, what've you got there?"
Aaron held up the pendant. It really did look neat. "It's a wing pendant; I just thought it looked cool."
Lisa smiled. "It'd look good on you." She giggled and began to hum that one song Aaron couldn't quite remember, the one with Uncle Albert and little little little get around and a butterfly...or was it butter pie? He thought for a minute. "Ah hah, Wings," he laughed. "Very nice."
She nodded, pleased with her obscure joke. "You should pick it up."
"Yeah," Aaron said. "I'm not a jewelry guy, but...I dunno, I just kinda like it and I can't explain why."
Lisa smirked. "Magic." They both laughed as they headed to the checkout; Aaron bought the pendant, and Lisa bought a few assorted items. Once they were out in the mall, Aaron strung the pendant around his neck.
