“Help me, what’s happening!” A boy yells, “I have a tail, why do I have a tail,” cries another. The boys start to check their bodies to see if they’re changing any more. Paul just holds his ears and pulls them down into view of his eyes. The sky starts to get lighter as the sky glows orange over the horizon.
The roller coaster clicks and clacks as it climbs the first and tallest hill behind Paul. The boys in the cars are calling and yelling for the ride to stop as they notice their own changes. Paul looks up and sees that the sun has already started to touch the top of the coaster. The boys in the cars struggle to get loose as the car pulls up over the peak. As soon as the sunlight touches them they all yell and groan. Their bodies rip out of their clothes, their faces quickly and painfully stretching into muzzles, their ears growing long and pointed. Their hands and feet fold up into hooves and the bray with wild fear and anger. The car rushes down the hill and passed Paul. He watches the donkeys sitting upright and in the car braying and kicking to get loose as tatters of clothing blow out of the car onto the boardwalk.
Paul looks to the horizon as it gets brighter and the sunlight starts to move down the coaster, getting closer to the ground.
