You stare at the big white foot at the end of your leg, reflective and smooth in the light of the street lamps. You wiggle your toes experimentally, and your foot responds with the three big toes all moving just as you thought they should. They squeak a little as they move, rubbing latex on latex is noisy.
You stand up and dust yourself off, wearing one shoe. The ground feels rough under your new smooth foot, as if every touch is more sensitive now. You feel the tiny grain of the cement sidewalk, every pebble and leaf under your foot as you walk home. Stopping occasionally to make sure those creatures you saw earlier arent following you, you decide its safe to proceed back to your home.
A bench on the sidewalk offers a nice place to sit for a moment, so you plop your butt down and lift your foot for further inspection. It is indeed a giant white rabbits foot. You grab it with both hands and press hand, you can feel it still but you dont think that there are muscle and bones inside as you knew them. It feels very different now, strong and mobile but solid. The usual sinew and bone doesnt feel present. Your hands make squeaky pops when they run over the smooth latex of your foot. You tug hard, thinking that if you pull hard enough it might come off to reveal your normal foot. It doesnt budge, its not a covering, it is you. You realize this with a sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach.
