"You realize that things are going to be very different between us, right?" Laurie asked her new daughter. "We're not going to be equal partners in decision making like Jason and I were. I value your opinion, but I'm the one who's going to be in authority."
"Yes, mother." Jasmine answered. Her foxtail started wagging.
"And I don't want you running around with Mike and the gang without adult supervision all the time. And I want to talk to Mike and to his parents. You really don't know much about being a teenage girl, and I don't want you taken advantage of."
"OK."
"We're going to stay here for a while longer--we can afford it, and I want to have our new relationship solidified some before we go back into the world."
Jasmine yipped enthusiastically. "That's great ma!"
"Don't get too comfortable--we will be going back to human forms eventually."

Laurie gave her new daughter a hug. She felt like crying over how much she missed Jason.
