"Jamie! What did you do?!" Tricia's eyes were as wide as they'd ever been as she saw the large fish tail that had replaced Jamie's legs. It was a pale purple color. Jamie clutched the remote, shivering.
"Are you all right?" Tricia asked. Jamie opened her mouth, but she didn't seem to be able to answer. Tricia's mind raced for a moment, but when she noticed that scales were starting to shed from her tail, she had an idea. "It's water! You need water, don't you?"
Tricia raced like a bullet out of the room. She ran into the bathroom, plugged the tub and turned on the water. On her way back to Jamie, she tripped and fell, burning her young skin on the carpet. "Damn hair!" she whined. When she made it back to Jamie, she could see the girl was fading fast. Tricia clutched Jamie, trying to lift her up, but she wasn't strong enough. "I've gotta get back to normal first," she said as she easily pried the remote out of Jamie's weak hands. "But don't worry, I'm getting the tub ready!"
Tricia set the remote to age her back to eighteen, and soon she felt her clothes tightening and her figure returning. She noticed her hair was still five feet long, but now she wasn't in danger of tripping on it. She scooped Jamie into her arms and rushed her into the bathroom.
Once Jamie was deposited in the tub, she recovered almost immediately. Her breathing steadied and she stopped shivering. Her fish half even seemed to darken into a richer purple than before.
Tricia sat against the tub, panting. "I'm glad that worked out," she gasped. Then she noticed the remote still clutched in her hand and laughed. "I guess I could have just turned you back to normal instead of all this."
"But this was more fun!" Jamie said right before Tricia got a decent soaking.
"Jamie, don't splash!" Tricia shouted. "We've made enough of a mess already." In a few minutes, the bathroom would probably be as soaked as the shirt Mer-Jamie was still wearing.
"I'm a mermaid!" Jamie laughed as she continued splashing up and down in the water. "I'm a mermaid!"
Then...
