"Stop splashing! You're making a mess!" Tricia said as she tried to grab Jamie's waving arms. "Look, we can't keep you this way. Your parents will be home soon. I have to turn us both back."
"No!" Jamie protested. She tried to wriggle free from Tricia's grasp. "I wanna stay a mermaid!"
"Jamie, I'll make a deal with you," Tricia said. "If you let me change you back to normal, and if you don't tell your parents what happened today, then from now until dinner we can have some fun with the remote. But no more wet, splashy mermaid business, okay?"
This seemed to satisfy the girl, as she stopped resisting Tricia's grip. In a few minutes, Jamie was back to human stature. Tricia decided not to return her hair to normal just yet, as she had grown a little fond of the cape of hair Jamie had accidentally bestowed upon her.
She dried Jamie off and threw her damp clothes in the dryer. After Jamie was outfitted with a new wardrobe, They settled in the living room where they had the most space to stretch out. Jamie was watching her expectantly.
"I'll let you pick what to do first," Tricia said. "Then I'll set the remote to make the change. But don't pick anything too hard to manage."
