After setting a good mile or two away from the latex puddle, you prop up against the wall of a house and ponder your next move. It takes you a moment to realise your trunk is scratching your head, rather like your hands would do in normal times.
You take the time to look at your trunk. Besides the colour, it is exactly like the trunk of an elephant you'd see at the zoo, down to the shape of the nose. "...alzough ze latex threat ist past, I heff to varn ze publik: if you heff come into contakt vith thees latex, und it has altered your body vithout latex, you must see us at ze Bioplastics factory. Ze tests conclude failure to receive das proper treatment may result in further changes, resulting in more of der animal's features appearing. Although all viktims thus far examined retain a roughly human form, und could theoretically function in das society, ve do not yet know ze long term effects..."
Ignorantly blissful of any future pachyderm problems heading your way, you stroll back to your house, whistling a cheerful tune amplified by your trunk, unable to notice in the dark that it is slowly turning ashen grey...
