Keith had devoured a ground squirrel and was basking in the sun, still disturbed by what had happened with Jackie. Neither Keith nor Cathy had had much relationship experience, and he didn't know how seriously to take their argument.
He heard Jackie pad up to him. "Boy," she began. "Women, always bitching about their feelings, never listening to a rational argument, what can you do, huh?"
"Men." Keith answered. "Never respecting a woman's feelings, acting like they've always got to be right all the time, even if it's nothing really important. Jerks."
"You're not a sexist jerk." Jackie began to run her paw over Keith's chest in a way she knew he liked. "You're a sweet, sexy, opinionated pantherboy."
"You're not an irrational female." Keith took Jackie into his arms. "You're a smart, sensitive, sexy panthergirl. Let's not fight over stupid stuff anymore."
Jackie disentangled herself from Keith. "Race you to that tree?"
"What do I get if I win?" Keith answered.
Jackie just grinned.
