You hand the book over to Jeremy, hoping that she might be able to figure out something that could be useful. She flips through it curiously.
“Let’s see, night-gaunts…shoggoths…nameless, unspeakable horrors…Hey, this looks interesting. ‘Cthulhu Fta-…’“
Suddenly, with a sound that sounded reasonably eldritch, a giant beast with a mass of tentacles for a mouth appeared in the center of the room.
“I AM THE GREAT CTHULHU. WHO HAS AWAKENED ME FROM MY AEONS-OLD SLUMBER IN DEEP RY’LEH?” The creature thundered.
“Err…I did…” Jeremy offers nervously while you look on in stunned silence.
“I HAVE AN ALARM CLOCK FOR A REASON. NOW, WHAT HAVE YOU SUMMONED ME FOR?”
“Well, to tell the truth, I summoned you by accident. I’m really sorry about wasting your time, though,” she says, trying to sound as sincere as possible.
Cthulhu looks somewhat puzzled, and at last speaks in mercifully less deafening tone of voice. “What? That’s strange. Usually I get called up by a cult of mixed-up weirdos who want me to bring chaos to the world.”
