A Lesson Learned at the Laundry

added 16 years ago BM S

Tricia reached the laundromat without a problem. The wagon pulled along without any trouble, though she wondered how hard it was going to become on the way back. Her shirt already lost its skin-tight feeling, though it still appeared to fit.

She loaded her things into the machines and set them running. Now there was nothing to do but grab a magazine and wait.

She found it hard to concentrate on the articles. She was too preoccupied with her own shrinking. Her senses were constantly on alert, trying to feel any changes to herself or her clothing. Then she noticed a short woman trying to reach some hangars dangling from the free hangar bar. She couldn't have been taller than 4'5". She frowned, looking embarrassed that she couldn't reach what most people could get easily.

Tricia looked at the remote sitting in the empty hamper. Maybe she could help this woman out. She discreetly pressed a few buttons and shot the woman while nobody was looking. In seconds, she grew from four and a half feet to exactly five. Her clothes had been changed to fit, and she was made completely unaware of her previous height disadvantage. She was able to reach the hangars now, a frown no longer visible on her face.

Tricia felt pretty good for a while after that. Then a large man came into the laundromat. He barely cleared the door frame, breathing heavily. Tricia watched as he slowly placed his massive clothes into the washing machine, shaking his head every so often at a particular item. When he was done, he waddled to the nearest chair and set his entire weight into the small seat. He stared at the floor for some time, then noticed some magazines on a table just out of his reach. He very slowly stood, still breathing audibly, and grabbed one.

Trish couldn't watch this scene any longer. She set the remote to take a hundred pounds off the man and zapped him. His double-chin disappeared and his belly shrunk. His clothes became smaller as well. When it was over, the man was still overweight, but it was much less obvious. At least, Tricia hoped, he could walk around without gasping.

The five-foot woman gasped. Trish swung her head around and saw that she was looking at the clothes she was taking out of the dryer. She held a pair of pants to herself, noticing how much shorter they were than her legs. Tricia realized she had to do something. She was about to change the clothes to fit her when she thought about what she was doing. This woman didn't notice her changes because of the remote, but if she had a family, they'd definitely be able to tell. And she probably had more clothes at home that no longer fit. The same thing with the fat man. She couldn't change their bodies without changing other things in their lives. Who was she to be changing them at all?

Sighing, she set the remote to reset the woman to her old height. Once it was done, the 4'5" woman seemed to forget that her clothes had "shrunk" in the dryer and carried about the task of folding them up. Trish zapped the large man as well, returning him to his obese form.

"This thing is a gift," she thought. "And as long as I'm using it I can change myself however I want...but it's not right to change others unless they want it." She put the remote back in the hamper and continued reading her magazine.
