A world full of mindless grunting beasts/That doesn't jive with thousands of years of folklore dealing with the animal world.
One theory says that our senses do not take in information, but filter it out.
There are plenty of native american tales that say animals do not fear death because they know they'll come back for another kick at the can
The theories and the folktales are right, and Phil was about to find out just how much humans were wrong in their perceptions of animals.
His elan body used to be human,it was tainted,
All Phil heard around his was the grunts of mindless animals and his own sluggish tainted thoughts
That little problem had to be corrected
A big female crocodile lunged out, grabbed the startled elan and pulled it into the river
Phil had a painful death
But then sometimes you have to die to go to animal heavean
After the pain died away Phil found himself scrunched up
There was no light to enter
His world consisted of a spherical object less then a millimetre in diameter
As Phil was lulled to sleep a ovum in the female crocodile came to life.
This was Phils new home and physical body for his rebirth as a true and proper beast rather then some wannabe putknocker human taking a animal body out for a test drive
The sound of water and the scent of prey were Phils lullaby
Mom went and got mated and she laid Phils egg.She covered the nest with rotting vegetation to incubate her two dozen or so eggs and waited
The sex of a developing crocodile is determined by the temperature to some extent, and in some circumstances this can lead to a clutch of all female crocodiles
That happened in this case
The big day came as Phil slowly awakened and dealt with several conflicting thoughts
He had been killed and eaten
He had to rescue Lydia
He had to use his snout to break out of this chamber he found himselve curled in
He broke and and was startled to find his voice had gone squeaky and girlish
All the little hatchlings were shouting out encouragement to one another
"comeon susan, hurry it up,get your tail out of that egg before mommy comes back and squishes you"
Phil naturally was startled as he listened to all the chatter around him and just froze.
Who could blame him,it was his first time after all.All the rest had done this dozens of times before
Suddenly Phil heard a voice under a nearby fallen leaf
"it's just a dumb newbie, must be that human who got eaten a few months back"
"naw, mom wouldn't bother eating a human. They're stupid and clumsy on two legs and even worse on four"A little snoutpoked out from under the leaf
There was more arguing under the leaf"i tell you its a human,it'll take months to train her to be a proper crocodile, let a heron eat her and let THEM train her"
More arguing
Finally
"Psst, hey kid,get over before you get squished"
Phil decided to take her chances and bolted for the leaf
Once there she found a bigger juvenile and 6 newborns
The older kid spoke up
"so whats your name newbie?
"Phil"
This was immediately followed by squeals of girlish laughter by the other newborns
NEWBIE
NEWBIE
NEWBIE
Finally the chant die down and the older kid moved his snout down to Phils rear legs and took a sniff
"Nope,thats a boys name and you're definitely a girl"
"Mind if i call you Pauline?
Pauline giggled nervously
Thump Boom Thump Boom Thump Boom
The kids stuck their snouts out from under the leaf and began calling out
"mommy mommy over here mommy"
the boy nudged Pauline as a 25 foot giant of a crocodile thundered up to the leaf and said
"thats mom newbie,ain't she beautiful"
Welcome to the Real Animal world!
