“Well, I haven’t ridden any of the rides yet. Have you?” Marie says standing. Josh just shakes his head and swallows hard. “Well, let’s go,” she holds the rabbit tight in one hand and puts her other out for him to take. Josh does, feeling the smoothness of her sink as he stands up. “Let me just tell me friend, and-“ “I don’t think he’s gonna mind,” she says pointing to Jesse. Josh looks over and sees Jesse necking with a young girl with his hands around her ass.
Marie and Josh walk up to one of the short lines to one of the coasters. They move through it quickly up to one of the cars as it slides to a stop. Each seat is big enough for two with several rows. Boys fight for the front car, but not just with other boys, with girls too. Josh and Marie just take one of the open seats. Marie puts the rabbit down in between them, “he can be our chaperone.” Josh grins and is startled by the sudden movement of the car. The ride CLICKS and CLAKS as it climbs up the first hill. Everyone screams as the cars hurl toward the ground and endless loops and twists. The rabbit flies up out of the car, and having lost their buffer, Marie slides up hard against Josh and grips him tightly as they spin.
Josh and Marie pant as the ride comes to a stop, their hearts racing. Josh starts to get up, but Marie pulls him back down, “We’re going again.” Josh agrees and sits back down.
Marie and Josh ride the coaster two more times after that and then walk up and down the main street talking. Marie clears her throat, “my mouth is dry.” She spots one of the beer stands and grabs one for her and Josh, but Josh is reluctant to drink. “Marie, wait,” he stops her, “I…” He looks at Marie and all the other boys and girls, now very tipsy, but having the best time ever. “What, what is it?” she asks with concern. Josh just smiles, “You know what, it’s nothing, everything here really is great.” Marie smiles and they both down their beers, and several more.
