The only crime you've been charged of is theft of what, a toy that's probably worth less than five dollars? Realizing that it'd hardly be worth your time to even try contesting this (especially since they've got a pretty rock-solid case against you, having caught you in the act and all), you decide to just bite the bullet and plead guilty.
"Very well. I find the defendant guilty of shoplifting in the first degree, and hereby sentence them to full ownership of the stolen goods."
What?!? You almost want to ask him to repeat that, the sentence seems odd. Did he just say that they're going to GIVE you what you tried to steal? You almost don't believe it, until one of the guards grabs the latex Yoshi, shoves it into your arms, and then walks you out of the courthouse and into an empty clearing. You turn back to ask him if they're serious about this, but the entire courthouse seems to have disappeared, with an empty grove now filling its place.
You sit down and take a moment to relax and think. Why in the world would they just give the thing to you? It's almost as though they intend to encourage the crime rather than... Wait. Just at that second, you felt something move. Looking down, you see that the little Yoshi that had been sitting on your lap has begun to move. More than that, it's stood up and is looking right at you. More than a little freaked out by this, you push it off of you with your right hand, but as you do it whips its long red tongue out and lashes it around your wrist. You struggle to pull off the tongue, but it just ignores your attempts and shoots at your wrist, soon swallowing your hand whole. You reach try to pull it off with your free hand, but it easily wriggles out of your grasp, all the while slowly changing its shape. You quickly see that all your efforts are in vain as it tightens around your hand, taking on a definite shape. Soon, you can see that it's become a sort of green three-fingered glove, just slightly larger than your original hand. You continue to pull at it, but even now it resists to budge.
Flexing your fingers, you're glad to see that the three you have left (as well as your thumb) still work just fine. Even so, you feel like it'd probably be best to get rid of this glove as soon as possible.
