As the storm worsens outside, something strange begins to happen. The walls and ceiling of the kitchen begin to soften. Ripples form on their surfaces, just like the ripples of the rain sliding down the windows.
A thought of surprise and fear flits through your mind, but you're much too detached from the world to do anything about it. You simply stare, entranced by the growing drips and ripples that signify the melting of the entire house. You stand and slowly walk toward the large windows, staring at the worsening storm.
The ceiling collapses as though it were made of mud. You don't even flinch, and strangely, nothing touches you. It's as if you're watching this from a 360-degree television set. Even the noise of thunder and the torrential rain sounds far away, when it's now falling just inches from your face. Yet not a drop is falling on you.
The rain slowly dies down. There's no sign of the house now. Even the hedge maze and garden are washed away to vague remnants. As the final drop hits the soaked ground, you are left standing in an empty field. The path you took the other day is visible once again, beckoning you to return to the real world.
You think it's awful strange. Yesterday you wanted desperately to go back, to escape. But after all that's happened to you, you're much more compelled to stay in that ghost of a field, pretending the house is still standing. It had worked so hard to make you a part of it, so why was it now rejecting you? You have no place in the real world now.
But you realize there's no point in staying. Not that there's much point to anything, but you still have the will to live, even if you don't expect life to offer much in the future. You trudge through the field, still in your platforms, your dress, giant pigtails, and goth makeup. The wind whips up your skirt and you feel it on your bare privates once again. You don't smirk. You don't even shiver this time.
This is how fate has made you, and as such this is what you have accepted to be. Where will these new form and feelings take you?
