Lina's Lifestyle Change, Part II

added 15 years ago BM

Lina screamed as she watched her reflection in the mirror change. It was subtle, but she was able to notice. The color was draining from her skin so that it looked like she hadn't seen daylight in months. Her eyelids and the space under her eyebrows turned a deep black, as did her lips. Her eyes themselves changed as well, with her irises brightening to a blazing and terrifying red.

She put a hand to her mouth and saw that her fingernails had darkened to coal black and had grown out an inch. As she gasped she realized her teeth had grown fangs that looked almost vampiric.

The next thing she noticed was that her blond hair was quickly turning black. It grew out much longer and lost its natural waves, smoothing out into a perfectly straight waterfall. Cherry red streaks appeared running down its entire length, which itself was increasing by the second. Once it reached her knees, her hair stopped growing.

"No way. No freaking way. I've got to find Lina. Or anybody who can fix this!"

"You called?" an irate voice said from behind her. Lina turned and screamed once more at the freakish yellow and purple monstrosity facing her.

"It's okay! It's me! Amy!" the zebra creature shouted.

"A...Amy?!" Lina gasped. "What happened to you?"

"I was going to ask you the same thing."

"We've got to find a manager."

"I'm already on it. One of the store girls is summoning him right now. I heard you screaming so I came to see if you were all right."

Both girls exchanged hasty stories of their transformations. "I guess I'd rather be stuck as a goth than as a zebra, though," Lina finished. During Amy's explanation she had attempted to remove her collar, belt, and boots, but everything felt glued onto her body. "And black and red seem like a better color combo than purple and yellow. That's really hurting my eyes."

"And that's really hurting my feelings," Amy pouted.

"Sorry," Lina said. "I'm just so frustrated! I shouldn't have put this collar on in the first place. It's gotta be what started it. Guess it's a good thing it didn't change me into an animal."

"Wonder what kind of animal would work best for a goth?" Amy wondered aloud.

"What kind of question is that?"

Amy shrugged. "Just trying to pass the time until the manager shows up."

"Well," Lina looked at her reflection once more. "I suppose anything devilish would match all this. At least I still have my humanity to be thankful for."
