Sharon stared at the shed skin, and an unsettling feeling crept over her. She stared at herself in the mirror. There were several pieces of her old skin stuck in her hair still, so she started combing them out, all the while staring at herself as if she expected something else to happen, until her eyes started to dry out and she felt a strange twitch. Almost like she had blinked, except she hadn't. She pressed closer to the mirror, and kept staring. Then she saw what happened. Her eyes each had a sort of transparent inner eyelid that was blinking. After she noticed this new feature, she found she was quickly able to control it. These membranes were similar to what many other animals had--birds, cats, camels, and of course...lizards. Sharon shuddered at that last thought, and needed someone to talk to--immediately.
Sharon went back to her phone and called up Jim, her boyfriend and scientist.
"Good morning? This is Jim."
"This is Sharon. Excuse me if I sound weird," Sharon said, her voice shaking.
"You sound scared. What happened?" Jim asked.
"I woke up... and my breasts were bigger," she started.
"Well, that's not so bad," Jim said.
"That's not all. I seem to have laid some eggs. And then I shed my skin after my morning shower. And then after a closer inspection I find I'm covered in millions of tiny scales, and I've got these creepy inner eyelids going sideways!" Sharon said, working herself into a hysterical crescendo.
"Uh..." was all Jim could say.
"I'm no biology expert, but I'd say I'm some kind of reptile, though that I still feel warm-blooded and have big breasts might confuse the matter," Sharon said more calmly. "What the hell am I?"
"All right, Sharon..." Jim started.
