Weekend Party
The weekend of the party everyone met at the same rest area. When everyone arrived they departed for the beach. When the group reaching the beach Tom noticed why it was the 'IN' place. As he looked around the beach area he saw quite a few well-built males, all dressed in Speedos All of them seemed to be about the same age.
"There must be a swimming meet nearby." Tom thinks to himself.
The party was a big hit with everyone. Someone had brought beer to the party but no one knew or would say who brought it. There was a cool breeze off the coast and the sun was hot. The waves weren’t big enough for surfing so the gang rented two jet skies to tow the surfboards and skiers. There were volleyball games, Frisbee catching and tag football games going on all day long.
Tom was glad that everyone was having fun but there was something about this beach that bothered him that he couldn’t quite put his finger on. He headed towards the refreshment stand to get a cold drink.
"Heads up birthday boy." came a disembodied voice from behind.
Tom turns around just in time to catch a stray football that almost hit him. The voice belonged to Dan, the star quarterback for the team.
"Good catch dude,” says Dan. "Have you seen the "dweeb" anywhere?"
"Not since the party started hours ago." Tom says tossing the ball back at Dan. "You never told me how "The Dweeb" became your shadow."
Dan walks closer to Tom and says. "If I have to explain it to one more person I'm gonna punch that SOMEBODY in the nose." Dan makes a fist and brings it within a few inches from Tom's face pulling back at the last moment. Instead of punching Tom in the nose Dan lightly taps Tom on the right cheek.
"He's spending the summer here with his Uncle because his family is moving here after the school year start. They're still packing up their old house back somewhere in the northwest."
"That still doesn’t explain why he is following you like a little puppy."
"He is the nephew to Mr. Masters, guy that my dad works for." Explains Dan. "He's in the same grade as we are. Dad thought it would nice if I was to show him around town. So now I'm stuck playing tour guide. If you see him tell him I'll see him at the refreshment stand in an hour."
