Bill helps out the team
During their many workouts together Dan and Bill talked about a lot of things. One of the things they talked about was the dismal season the team had last year. Bill thought what better way to fit in at the new school than to help the team. There has to be a way to get all the ball team to touch the statue. If there was only someway that Bill could get the team to touch the statue at the same time. Remembering the electrical shock he got from the statue Bill struck on an idea, but he needed to try a little experiment first. Now he needs to find his friend Dan.
Bill searches the beach crowd for Dan but he was nowhere in sight. He decides to go back to the refreshment stand in the hopes that he might be there. When he gets there he finds Tom sitting there, all hot and sweaty, sipping a cold drink.
“Hey Tom!. Have you seen Dan?” Bill asks.
“Sure have.” Tom answers. “He said to meet him here at the refreshment stand in an hour which is right now.”
“Ok. I was thirsty anyway. I’m going for a coke. If Dan gets here before I do tell him I’ll be right back.”
“There you are.” Dan said in an authoritative tone “Have you been behaving yourself Dweeb?”
“Of course I am.” Replies Bill. “With a babysitter like you around how much trouble can I get into.”
“Well I don’t know about you two but I’m going to have more fun on the beach.” As he leaves the refreshment stand he tosses his drink cup into the trashcan and says. “See you two love birds later.”
“I thought he would never leave.” Says Bill with a sigh of relief. “We need to talk.”
“What is it Billy boy?
“I got something I want to show you.”
“What is it?”
“Remember when you told me that the football team had such a bad season last year.”
“Yeah. What does that have to do with the here and now.”
“A lot if what I have to show you works again.”
“What?”
“Do you know who the Chairman of the school board is?”
“Somebody of important I suppose.”
“It’s my uncle and he doesn’t like being a school board member of a loosing team.” Bill looked around before adding. “My uncle offered Coach Riley an “incentive” to retire early so he hired the new coach.”
“Your family has that much money?”
“Well forget that for now. I found something that is better than any new coach. Let me show you what I found.”
Dan followed Bill back to the beach entrance. When they got there Bill showed Dan the statue.
“Is this what you wanted to show me?” Dan asks Bill. “How can this statue help the team?”
“Like this.”
