Ron watches as the sun vanishes and the sky becomes orange. “I don’t know, this place seems…” Ron doesn’t finish his sentence as he watches some of the boys on the boardwalk. They all start to walk hunched over and then drop to their hands. They walk around on their hands and feet with their rear ends high in the air. Ron just laughs, but then looks over at Zack who’s gone.
Ron looks down and sees Zack with his hands planted on the ground. Zack just looks up at him, “Well, what do you want to do next?” Ron is totally confused. “What are you doing?” Now Zack is confused, “I’m standing here bored out of my skull.”
Ron takes a step back, “why are you doing that.?” “Doing what?” Zack asks. “Why are you on your hands?” Zack looks down and then back up. “I don’t really know. Isn’t that weird. Hahah haha HEE HAW HEE HAW!” Zack brays like a donkey, but it goes unnoticed to himself, but not to Ron.
“Zack… did you just…” Ron starts just as a tail rips out of the back of Zack’s pants. It’s long and covered in brown fur with a thick tassel at the end of it. “Oh my god, Zack, look at that.” Zack tries to turn, but then just looks under himself to see his dangling tail. Then, Zack’s ears start to grow very quickly. They stretch up and have brown fur spread across them. When Zack brings his head back up, Ron sees that Zack’s lips have turned dark and his nostrils have widened.
The same is happening all around. The boys are scurrying around like nothing’s happening as they grow tails and ears. “Ron, what is wrong with you, you look like you’re gonna throw up again,” Zack chuckles, his voice becoming more hoarse. “You, you look like a donkey,” Ron stammers. “A donkey… You think I look like a donkey… ahhaha hahah HEE HAW HEE HAW.” Zack laughs hard and brays.
Then Zack’s arms start to stretch and it brings him level with has backend. “You’re are so crazy HAW HEE HAW. Come on, let’s geettt moorreee beeeeeeerrRR HAW HEE HAW HEE HAW!” Zack’s face pushes out into a longer muzzle and his neck stretches ripping his shirt. Ron breathes heavily watching his friend bray. Other boys all over and changing just as fast, and a few donkeys are roaming around as well. Zack starts to kick his back legs in the air as his pants rip apart. His shoes pop off and his lengthening feet grow fur. His toes curl up into thick black hooves and his hands soon follow. “Zack… Zack, no,” Ron starts to weep, but Zack is gone. A donkey just kicks around in front of him.
Ron starts to panic as he looks around at the donkeys and changing boys all around him. He looks and sees a few other boys who haven’t started changing all running back toward the boat. He looks back at Zack and tries to grab hold of his friend’s neck as he kicks. “Zack, it’s me. Ron. It’s okay.” The donkey just bucks Ron to the ground and runs off into the herd of angry donkeys.
