Luke hung up the phone, and frowned. His opposable thumb was now a rubber dew claw. He looked at his closed bedroom door, then headed over to the doorknob. He tried to turn the knob with one paw. Then, he tried both paws, and finally he got the brass to turn. With the door open, Luke dropped to all fours and trotted down the hallway. It was only when he was at the top of the stairs did he realize that he was on all fours.
He didn't feel like standing up, so he started going down the stairs on all fours. He was surprised as the bulk of his weight on his right forepaw produced a squeak. He raced down the steps squeaking like a rubber duck with each paw fall.
He paused as he passed the full-length entry mirror. He had a tail! He wagged his rubber tail and examined his rubber wolf form closely in the mirror. It was odd, it looked less like a real wolf and more like a cartoon of a wolf. He noticed the green headed mallard decoy setting on the table and it triggered an odd thought.
Luke thought it was the same difference between a real duck and a rubber one.
He squeaked all the way to the kitchen. The kitchen door was a bit more difficult to unlock. It had a chain and deadbolt that he had to open. Finally, he got the bolt open using his paws. But he had to use his mouth to undo the chain. It must've taken ten minutes to accomplish his task.
He opened the door and was startled to see Erik standing there. He hadn't even heard him approach.
"E-reek!" he squeeked, "You startled mee!" Luke fell backwards onto his tail which squeeked loudly.
Erik didn't speak. He just stepped through the threshold and grinned down at his transformed cousin. His smile was disconcerting. Erik's teeth looked too big. Maybe it was just the angle that Luke was looking at them from on floor. He looked hairier too, and he smelled like a wet dog. Erik's brown eyes seemed to glow amber yellow. Luke let out a frightened squeek as Erik's ears suddenly grew pointier, and Erik's body convulsed and grew to over 7 feet tall. Erik's clothing ripped to shreds as his body exploded out of them. His naked body was rapidly covered in a thick coat of black fur. His mouth and nose jutted outward into the form of a real wolf. He threw back his head and let out a howl.
Luke rolled over and backed away from his monstrous cousin. Luke had thought he was a werewolf, but Erik really was a werewolf. Erik lunged at him and his massive jaws closed on Luke. Erik played with his helpless rubber cousin. Then turned and trotted out into the cold night with his new toy trapped and flailing harmlessly in his mouth.
