"I'll take that Ivory carving as well." George says, eyeing the roughly human-shaped figure on the counter. Giving him his purchases in a gift bag, the shopkeeper wishes him good day.
On the way home, George stops at a public bathroom, to see what's inside the flask. A watery green liquid swirls around, with something at the bottom. Deciding the liquid to be very stale water, George tips the flask upside down and empties the liquid into a sink. The thing at the bottom of the flask drops in too. It's a large claw of a reptile of some sort, perhaps a crocodile. Delighted at his two-for-one deal, pockets the claw and rinses out the flask. Just as he is about to leave the bag splits, dropping the figure and the flask onto the ground. To free up a hand, George decides to put the carving inside the now-empty flask.
On arriving home, George puts the flask on the mantlepiece, and hears a sloshing noise. Opening it once again, he sees the head of the figure sticking out of a greyish liquid, thicker than the green liquid had been. Perturbed at this mysterious occurence, he takes out the figure and washes it in his kitchen sink. After this, he notices some of the liquid is still on his hands, and despite his scrubbing, it seems reluctant to come off. He sniffs it to find out what it is. It smells rather nice, like a rich soup. He tries licking it, and discovers it tastes even better than it smells. Also, the licking seems to have gotten it off his hands.
A crazy idea steals into his head. Maybe he should eat some of this "soup" for a meal. It was funny, as he wasn't hungry before he tasted the soup, but now he wanted more of it.
