A man clad from head to toe in black emerged from the shadows, his gun still trained on Michelle. His face was obscured by a ski mask, but it didn't muffle his worlds. "Come with me, we haven't bought much time."
Michelle considered her choice, albeit briefly. "Okay...I'll come with you."
The man walked at a brisk pace; Michelle had to jog to keep up. They walked for probably ten or fifiteen minutes with no sounds popping up behind them. "Maybe we could slow down? I don't hear them," she asked, feeling hopeful.
The mysterious man laughed at her. "You've got an awful lot to learn, miss. Right now, they've probably just regained consciousness and are scent tracking us. My cabin's not too far from here. We'll be safe there. Come on, let's move it." The man began to jog, which in turn forced Michelle to run simply to keep him in sight. She certainly hoped the cabin was close; her body couldn't take much more.
In practically no time, the cabin popped into view. It was a fairly normal looking, rustic log cabin, with the exception of the thick steel front door and lack of windows. When they got to the front door, Michelle noticed an electronic pad where a lock should be.
The man quickly punched in the code, and the door swung open. "Come in, quickly!" he ordered. Michelle ran through the doorway automatically, not wanting to be in the woods when her "friends" caught up.
The interior was quite modern, she noticed. Wall lighting illuminated the room, which was loaded with many electronic gadgets and all of the normal conveniences. She turned to her host, who was inside now, busy securing the door. A trio of howls echoed outside, and were drawing closer.
"Don't worry, they can't get in here," he told her.
"Thank you. I'll never be able to repay you. I would've....would've...died if you hadn't come along."
The man seemed rather nonplussed. "Probably. Sit tight, I'll be right back,"he said, disappearing into a side room.
