"Okay, okay... I was just imagining it. Yeah, that's it. My imagination's getting the better of me and..." she pulled the sweatpants up to check on her feet once more and sure enough, they were blue and finlike.
Though her initial observations were incorrect. Her feet DO have bones still. Fish don't have boneless fins, there are still bones there, they are just thin and spread out, all the better to support the fin rather than to walk. But she does still have heels, so maybe she'll be able to walk. Slowly, carefully, she stands on shaky legs.
"Jesus... how is this possible? I'm gonna get him. I'm gonna get him g- ahh!" she's wracked by another wave of pain as her legs become covered with scales. She can't see it happening beyond the portion she's pulled up, but she can feel it. Soon, both of her legs up to the thigh are covered in metallic blue scales.
"Oh God, Oh God I don't wanna be a fish woman, I don't wanna be..." she's stopped short as a realization hits her. She has to get to the ocean. And fast. She doesn't know how long it'll take her to fully metamorphose, but if she's on dry land if/when she grows gills, it could be bad. Very bad. She can worry about getting Kyle back later: for now she needs to get to the ocean before she dies.
