You figure the best way to test if this was a dream or not was to change the color of your clothes. Your t-shirt was green with red lettering and your shorts were red with green pin striping down the side. You hated this color combination as it appeared Christmas like all year round. You decide to change the green to purple and the red to yellow. You concentrate on changing those colors but nothing happens. "I guess this isn't a dream then" you say after you give up.
"Well I don't want to say it but, I told you this wasn't a dream" Lisa said.
"I was so sure that it was a dream though" you say. "It was the only logical thing I could think of. Now I'm back to square one with figuring out how this happened."
"Do you remember being a girl?" Lisa asked.
"No I don't" you say. "Weren't you listening when I said that I was actually a guy? How could I have memories of being a girl?"
"I heard you" Lisa said. "I needed to ask that in order to confirm my suspicions."
"What suspicions would those be?" you ask. "That I'm crazy."
"I don't believe you're crazy" Lisa said in a shocked tone of voice. "You should know me better than that."
"I don't though" you say. "I only know who you are because you are one of the brightest girls in school. I've never talked to you before."
"Please forgive me" Lisa said in a plaintive tone. "I keep forgetting that you're not the Stacey that I know. You don't look any different."
"Forget it" you say. "I know that this must be strange to you as well. So, what is your suspicion?"
"First I need to ask one more question" Lisa said. "Do you remember waking up in the middle of the night screaming and a girl when you were seven?"
"I remembered it when you told me that story" you say. "I had always thought that it was a dream and I quickly forgot about it."
"But you remember it now?" Lisa asked.
"Yes" you say.
"Ok then" Lisa said. "I think that you've slipped from a reality where you are a boy to this one."
"Ok, I'll go with that" you say. "It makes some sense but, how did I get here?"
"What did you do before you found yourself here?" Lisa asked.
"I was practicing on the court when things went blurry" you say.
"Did you do anything different before that happened?" Lisa asked.
"Well there was something in my locker when I changed for practice" you say. "It was a vial filled with a white liquid and a note."
"What did the note say?" Lisa asked.
"It said 'So You Want To Be A Star? Take Your Team To State And Win? Drink Me!'" you say.
"So you drank it" Lisa said. It wasn't a question.
"What else was I suppose to do?" you ask.
"Leave it alone" Lisa suggested. "That reminds me of Alice in Wonderland. You know the part where Alice finds a bottle and a note saying 'Drink Me'."
"I didn't read Alice in Wonderland when I was little" you say.
"Oh well" Lisa said. "So you drank it. What happened after that? What were you thinking?"
"I was thinking that I had just drunk someone's spunk" you say. "As to what happened, I've already told you."
"So you didn't feel any immediate effects?" Lisa asked.
"No" you say.
"Alright" Lisa said. "It seems that what you drank is responsible for you being here. Do you remember if you had drank the same thing when you were seven?"
You think back to that night. You find that you can easily remember it now. "No" you say after a couple minutes. "What does it mean?"
"Well you probably came through from a dream when you were seven" Lisa said. "It may have been to prepare us for today."
"So I was going to drink that no matter what" you say.
"Maybe not" Lisa said. "You still could have left it alone. Whether or not that would have stopped you from slipping between realities is another question."
You sit in silence for awhile and watched the girls practice. You wonder if this wouldn't be so bad after all. Your team seems to be going to state and you appear to be the star player. This is what you had wanted. You just didn't figure that you would be switching genders to get it.
"You know I've been thinking about that liquid" Lisa said breaking into your thoughts. "You may have been right. You probably did drink someone's spunk. Did you recognize the handwriting?"
"No I didn't" you say feeling sick to your stomach. You should have realized that it could have been someone's spunk before you drank it. The smell of pancakes threw you off though. "There's one thing I forgot to mention. When I opened the vial I sniffed the liquid. It smelled like pancakes."
"So it was designed to get you to drink it" Lisa said. "My guess is that it was some type of potion using someone's spunk."
"Why would someone make a potion like that though?" you ask.
"Well, judging from the note someone had wanted your team to go to state and win" Lisa said. "They could have gotten the recipe from any place and brewed it."
"Why give it to me though?" you ask. "Why not use it on themselves?"
"They probably didn't want to drink it themselves knowing what was in it" Lisa said. "Were you considered to be gay in that reality?"
Lisa's question had taken you aback. "There were a couple of guys that thought I was gay" you say. "I think that it was because I had a couple of friends who were gay."
"Tom and Adam?" Lisa asked.
"How did you know?" you ask in response.
"Because you're friends with them here too" Lisa said.
"What difference does it make if I was gay or not" you ask.
"It's likely the potion was meant to turn you into a better basketball player in that reality" Lisa said. "If you were gay in that reality you probably would have stayed there. All that would have happened was your body would have changed to make you a star. Since you were straight the potion turned you into someone that would drink a guy's
spunk. In this case it changed you into a girl and slipped you into this reality."
"So they put it in my locker thinking that it would change me into a star" you say. "Well it worked but not how they expected."
You two just look at each other then you start to giggle.
"Stacey Fox!" Ms. Adams said. "Are you feeling well enough to practice?"
"Yes Ms. Adams" you say automatically. "It must have been something I ate earlier."
"Good" Ms. Adams said. "Now get in here and show these girls how to play basketball."
"Yes ma'am" you say.
"Stacey, before you go I want to say that I'm going to see if I can stay with you for a few nights" Lisa said. "This way I can teach you how to be a girl."
"Thanks Lisa" you say smiling. You go and join your new teammates.
