You really love the game and under normal circumstances would never think about missing practice. These were not normal circumstances however, you went from being a boy to being a girl. It was physically not possible. This should not have happened but it did.
Coming to a decision you say "I think I'll sit practice out."
"Are you sure about that Stacey?" Ms. Adams asks.
"I'm sure" you say.
"Alright then, go sit on the bleachers" Ms. Adams said. "If you feel up to practicing a bit later you can. I know how much you love the game."
"Thanks Ms. Adams" you say.
Ms. Adams helps you to your feet and you walk over and sit on the bleachers. You keep trying to make sense of what just happened to you but you can't. Things like this are not suppose to be possible. You've obviously been transformed somehow. Not only that but your entire life seems to have changed as well. What the hell was going on here?
"Are you alright Stacey?" a girl asks as she sits down next to you on the bleachers. You know who she is. Lisa Adams, Ms. Adams's daughter and just about the brightest girl in school. Perhaps she could help you figure this out.
"I'm feeling a little weird Lisa" you say.
"How so?" Lisa asked.
"I know that this will sound crazy but just moments ago I was a guy" you say.
Lisa looked at you in an understanding way and asked "It's like when we were seven isn't it?"
"What do you mean?" you ask in return.
"I forgot that you wouldn't remember that" Lisa said. "When we were seven I was sleeping over at your house. You woke up in the middle of the night and started screaming bloody murder. Your parents were able to calm you down enough so you could tell them what happened. You had said that you were really a boy but you were somehow changed into a girl. Your mother held you close and told you that everything was
alright, that it was just a dream and that you had always been a girl. You kept insisting that you were a boy for the next half hour. Finally you fell back asleep. When you woke up in the morning you didn't remember what you had said. Your parents figured that you were actually asleep when you had said that you were a boy. I had thought that too until a couple years ago when I heard someone on a talk show say that he was actually a woman from a different reality. Since then I've been reading about alternate realities and if it is possible to slip from one to another."
Lisa's story triggered a memory of when you were seven. You remember waking up in the middle of the night and feeling strange. You had thought that that was all a dream though when you had woken up in the morning yourself again. You start to wonder if your assumption then was correct. If so then that means that this had to be a dream. That had to be it. The liquid you drank must have been some sort of drug
and you're laying on the basketball court having this weird dream. That's the only logical thing you can come up with. "This has to be a dream" you say.
"This isn't a dream Stacey" Lisa said. "I know that it may seem like one to you at the moment but believe me, it isn't."
"How can you be so sure that this isn't a dream?" you ask.
"Well if this is a dream and you've realized that it's a dream, then you should be able to control the dream" Lisa said.
"You're right about that" you say. You decide to test it out.
