Luke looks down and sees he ground rushing up to meet him as he drops. He lands hard, bending his knees and falling in to a crouch to slow his own fall without breaking an ankle. He puts the flat palms of his hands on the ground beside him as he comes to a halt, landing without incident.
He still feels like he is falling though. The ground doesn't feel solid, and as he stands up he feels dizzy. Like he is still moving, but not moving. The evening light of the day grows brighter, he squints his eyes against the light and then hears the warbling noise of music and the crashing sound of waves mixed with the jabbering of many voices all at once. It was gone, and then it was there. He put his hands to his ears feeling disoriented, and then the feeling passed.
He opened his eyes and looked around. He was standing alone near the high wooden fence on a bright sunny day, before him the alley stretched between buildings, and he could see people walking around on a boardwalk, before sandy beaches ended in blue ocean waves.
He spun, Drew was no with him. As he moved he noticed one more thing, his clothes were tight before, skin tight in fact. Now he could feel them hanging off him loosely.
Holding up his hands he looked at them, looked down at himself. He had shrunk! His spandex bike clothes were now roomy, baggy even. He felt his face. Smooth skin, thick hair, teeth were still there... what had happened? He walked down the alley letting his feet slip from his bike shoes which were now much too big, he left them behind.
Emerging in to the direct sunlight he felt it warm him. The other boys walking around the park looked like children. All of them had to be teenagers. Turning to look in the window of a shop he gasped in a sharp breath as his reflection looked back.
He was a teenager too. An easy 15 years of his age was simply gone, he recognized himself right away, he looked just like he did in those old school yearbooks he kept on the book shelf at home. He made a face, and touched his own cheek in disbelief.
Turning he smiled wide, realizing that he was young again, energetic, dressed totally wrong for the occasion but not caring.
He needed to find Drew.
