Ty turned at the sound of his door creaking open. His new vampiric hearing was a bit unnerving. The sound of the hinges literally seemed to screech in his ears. Next he heard clearing the sound of two hearts beating rapidly, and two sets of lungs struggling to breathe quietly.
His tongue darted between his lips and the image of Dustin and a strange man leapt to mind, even before the door opened to reveal them.
Dustin held a crucifix out arms length ahead of him as he led the way into Ty's room. Ty rolled his eyes, but still found himself forced to turn away from the crucifix which seemed to eradiate a painful radiation.
"Like Kryptonite to Superman, and here I always thought the part about the crucifix and Holy Water was hooey," Ty muttered.
"Hooey? Hardly, Spawn of Satan," challenged the man behind Dustin. He carried a satchel which clattered with wooden stakes and hammers as it swayed.
Ty's mind raced. He could tell from the sound that the contents were hammers and stakes, but he kept his tongue this time. Instead he said, "Dear brother Dustin, what brings you to my room with this strange fellow?"
"Dr. Van Helsing is here to help," Dustin blurted out nervously.
"Oh, is he from the government? Men from the government are always here to help," Ty joked, as he edged toward the window.
"You're not escaping so easily, vampire!" Van Helsing said whipping a stake from his satchel and jumping boot first on to Ty's bed.
"Were you raised in a barn? Get your boots off my bed at once, I sleep there!" Ty shouted.
"Please, unholy one, you sleep in a coffin," Van Helsing countered dropping off the bed to position himself between Ty and the window.
"Dustin, remember my powers?"
"Yeah, you bite people in the neck," Dustin answered rubbing his own neck thoughtfully.
"Not those powers, my other powers," Ty said slyly.
"Oh, crap," said Dustin suddenly remembering, and lowering his crucifix.
"Don't let that monster trick you. The only powers an undead man has are those of a vampire or zombi. They lose all other powers," Van Helsing announced knowingly.
"Indeed?" said Ty. "We'll just have to see won't we..."
