Just as she says this, you hear a rustling from the bushes near you. "That must be Alex." Your suspicions are confirmed when she steps into the clearing, followed by two drowsy sabertooth-morphs.. "That was fast," you say.
"Yeah, it didn't take me long to find them, and they were bigger so the tranquilizer wore off a bit faster." She gestures at the male sabertooth. "This is Ashley Kenton, and this," she says, indicating the female, "is James Kenton."
"Did this doctor have an obsession with sex changes, or what?" mutters Jeanette.
Ashley suddenly speaks up. "So, um, when do we try the electromagnets?"
"I explained everything to them on the way," Alex explains. "In any case, I say we do it now. The sooner we do it, the better. Once we disable the nanobots, we can use the full cure."
You all agree, so you all head back to the lab. Alex first checks the systems on the magnetic chamber, then begins shutting down extra unnecessary equipment and instructs you to back up the contents of the doctor's computer to an optical disc in case something goes wrong. Everyone helps move the portable equipment and the nanobot cylinders outside the magnetically shielded lab, while Alex does her best to shield and protect the rest of the equipment. At last, everything seems ready. You step inside the magnetic chamber, followed by everyone else. Finally, Alex sets the timer on the chamber's main computer, grabs a wireless monitor, and steps inside.
You wait a few minutes, with Alex intently watching the monitor and muttering things under her breath. "Okay, doing good, flux level up to 1.27, rising steadily, Delta at .0371, holding steady. Power set at 600 kilowatts peak, holding at 470... Oh, no. That can't be good!" She futilely presses a button on the monitor, then rushes over to the door, trying to force it open. "We have to get out, now!" You hear her mutter something about "600 megawatts."
You all try your best to force out of the chamber, but nothing works. Helpless, you can only stand there as you hear the machine begin to hum.
