As Amy watched, Lina leaned forward, her hands bracing her on the sink. Lina's face was contorted in a look that was an odd blend of pleasure and discomfort.
"Lina," Amy said, her voice filled with curiosity more than concern, "what's happening?"
"My back," Lina replied, "It tingles."
Amy looked at Lina's back. As she watched, a small protrusion pressed against the seat of her capri pants. The lump twitched a little and then got bigger.
Dizziness assaulted Amy again as the smell came back, stronger than ever. Her face tingled as she started to breath as deeply as possible. Tingling washed over her face, and she looked at herself in the mirror. What looked like whiskers had sprouted below her nose. She giggled a little as she ran her fingers over her new whiskers.
The sound of ripping pulled her attention back to Lina. The girl was hunched over the sink, a small object growing out of the hole in the seat of her pants. As Amy watched, fascinated, the object grew out, first to one foot, then two feet, and finally stopping around three feet. Lina's entire body tensed up as black fur covered the object. Within moments, Lina had a full grown skunk tail.
Amy slowly moved towards Lina. "You okay?"
"Amy," Lina's voice seemed distant, like she was half asleep, "I feel amazing."
Amy smiled; the fact that her friend was feeling good made her feel even better than before. Amy's hand absent-mindedly found its way to Lina's new appendage. It was incredibly soft, and Amy moved into a full embrace, hugging the tail.
Lina bent over the sink again, and Amy spotted herself in the mirror. Aside from whiskers, she noticed her hair was once again black.
Amy wasn't sure how to feel right now, she was in a fog of comfort and joy, but she knew something wasn't right.
