You're not really sure what else you can do at this point. You certainly can't go back to your old life like this, and if you broke all the curses but still had no legal identity you wouldn't really be much better off, so it looks like joining the carnival is your only viable option. You'll have to work here until you get legal status again, and then you can try your hand at uncursing this place. In the meantime, you can look for a way to change back. "Well," you sigh, "I guess I better join up, then."
Sofi perks up, probably excited about having someone who's (physically) her own age around. "Great!" she says. "Don't worry, it's not as bad as ya think. You'll get used to it, eventually. Now c'mon, I'll take ya to meet Anna!"
She grabs you by the hand and nearly drags you around the corner of the lot, to another set of trailers. Looking back the way you came, you realize that Sofi's parents' trailer is positioned to have a clear view of the road and the front gate, while these trailers are parked up next to the wooded area on this side of the lot. You idly wonder how many of the carnival employees might have to make a quick dash into the woods to avoid discovery if the police showed up.
Sofi stops at one slightly battered trailer and knocks. The door opens a crack, and a woman's face peers out. "Oh, it's you, Sofi," she says. "Come on in!"
The woman backs away from the door, and Sofi pushes it open and leads you inside. The inside is much less ramshackle than the outside, although it's still a little cramped and disorganized. Detailed sketches of countless mythological creatures inhabiting fantastic landscapes straight out of a Roger Dean painting adorn the walls, and carefully secured to the tiny kitchenette table is a computer just barely old enough to have a CD-ROM drive - it couldn't possibly be anything over a 486.
At the other end of the trailer is the woman. Sofi wasn't kidding; she is, in fact, a harpy. She has wings instead of arms, covered in blue-gray feathers. Her lower body is also feathered, with long, sturdy tailfeathers extending from the base of her spine. Her legs do end in scaly avian talons, although the legs themselves are somewhat more shapely and feminine than birdlike. She also differentiates from the stereotype in that she has hands, the fingers placed along the leading edge of the wing like the claws of a pterosaur. Her delicate, feminine face is framed by long, jet black hair, stray locks of which fall down her chest and decorate her bare breasts.
"Hello," she says, smiling at you. "I'm Anna. I don't believe we've met."
"She's new here," Sofi says, motioning to you. "She just got changed, and she needs a place to stay. I figured you might have room for her."
Anna nods. "Well," she says, "I only have the one bed, but it should be large enough for the two of us. I really only take up the one corner anyway."
"Great!" Sofi grins. "I'll leave you two to get acquainted." With that, she exits the trailer, presumably heading back to apologize for trying to sneak into her mom's spellbooks.
