"Mom! Dad! I'm home!" Jennifer barked as she stepped through the door, her tail wagging quickly back and forth. She was happy to be home, but a look from her mother quickly dispelled that.
She was standing at the door to the kitchen, arms crossed at her chest. "Daniel's father called me," she said, her voice cold and angry.
Jennifer's tail tucked between her legs. "Mom, I can..."
"Cool it, mom," a higher-pitched voice sounded out as a jingle of metal sounded out from upstairs. "She's obviously in heat, she's never taken the pill, and Daniel's a fine looking dog."
Brenda emerged from her room, on all fours as usual. Brenda rarely walked upright, considering it infoglike to do so unless necessary. She was one of those canids who believed that it was important to pay respect to her canine heritage.
"I would just like ONE of my daughters to have saved herself for marriage," Jennifer's mother sighed, loosening up. "Come here and give your momma a hug, Jenny."
Jennifer ran to her mother eagerly, throwing her arms around her shoulders and slobbering a multitude of dog-kisses on her mom's face.
"Thanks for understanding, mom," she said as she stepped back.
"Oh, Daniel's a good boy, I don't have anything bad to say about him. Just promise me you'll graduate before you decide to settle down with him."
"I promise, mom."
"Good. Now come get your dinner. Tonight's chicken and rice for my little doggies."
