"I'd like to try out one of those portable holes," Carrie said pointing at the sign hanging in front of a boutique across the street.
It read, "THE HOLE THING: Portable Holes For The Toon On The Go!"
John laughed, "That could be fun. Let's do it!"
Carrie stepped off the curb, and suddenly a steam roller toon raced at her. She would have been flattened, had not John pulled her back from the heavy machine's steel drum.
"Let's cross at the street light," John suggested, "Unless you want to go home in a mailing tube."
"Okay, a cross walk sounds like a good idea in the this place."
They walked passed a crying fire hydrant, and a dog marking its territory on the same hydrant. Some of what they saw was both humourous and disconcerting. The dog looked like Winston Churchill complete with bowler had and cigar, but it was definitely a bull dog. The tree or perhaps it was a hamadryad seemed to be laughing and her rustling leaves were saying that at least the dog had chosen the firehydrant instead of her.

The anvil shop on the corner had a line extending from the door around the corner and disappearing around the next corner. A banner over the door proclaimed the store was having a Half Off Sale. Wiley Coyote emerged from the store carrying half an anvil, and the security guard allowed the next toon in line to enter.
John shrugged as he pulled staring Carrie passed the Anvil Shop and toward the Hole Store, and said, "Well, it is a half-off sale."
"Yeah, but-"
It was odd, but there seemed to be more shops between the anvil store and the hole store than there were before they crossed the street. So Carrie stopped a pedestrian and asked about it.
"Wha-a-at!" quacked the duck man, "Don't you know this town is booming? Every ten seconds a new store opens on this street!"
As he said that, bricks appeared between the Toon Bakery and Toon Music Store, and began to expand pushing them apart. Suddenly, Carrie and John were standing in front of a Toon World "Pet Emporium". In the window they saw two large fish bowls, one contained a whiskered feline headed cat fish, and the second contained a "dog fish" complete with canine head and a red studded collar. There were bird cages, terrariums, aquariums, and other containers of an amazing variety of "animals" lining the walls. They stared for a moment, and then Carrie said...
