Angus and the note

added 15 years ago O

Angus was the local gardener for the neighborhood. He enjoyed working with his hands, but most of all he missed his homeland of Scotland. Having come here when he was a boy, his parents had been worried about riots and a possible uprising that could cause trouble for them all. Now here he was, forty nine and havin' taken over his father's business. He was pruning a rose bush when he noticed Samantha and Zach burying something in the sandbox.

Worried that it could be something important, knowing that they'll probably forget about it, Angus waited until they run off to play somewhere else. After finishing with the bush, he moved over to the sandbox.

Under the guise of pulling weeds out of the sand, he dug up whatever it was that they had buried.

Turns out it was just a piece of paper. Angus was just about to put it back when he felt the need to keep it. Placing it in the pocket of his bib-overalls, he went back to work.
---------

It was a week later and he was just about to do his laundry, when he was emptying the pockets of his clothes and discovered the note he had dug up. Placing his clothes in the machine, he fed it the correct amount to get it running. Taking a seat where he could keep an eye on his clothes, he open the note.

The moment it had opened, words began to form. This is what he read:

Some people are taken away from their homes. Some people return to their homes, while others do not. Those who do not return home forever feel a sadness in them. A hollow point which can never be filled. Are you the type who has been taken from you home? Do you wish to have a place you can call home? Do you wish you could begin life over and see if it could turn out differently; maybe as a different person? If so, grab a pencil or pen, tap it against the sheet and fill out the questionnaire. Warning: You may not become another's slave or master. You may not have an ability that would grant such a thing. You may not alter another so that they have a master/slave view toward you or any other. Once you have began this, do not stop or something awful will occur.

Looking about for a writing tool, he found a pen lying on a table. Picking it up, he thought about the last part. "Should I take the Questionnaire or should I fold the paper up and leave it?" Angus thought.

In the end, he decided to........
