Josh was really liking this outcome, something that bothered Ric. Flipping through the book, wondering if there was a way to reverse the stoning of Mr. Mendes, he paid little attention to his brother as Josh moved the statue out into the garden, with some minour difficulty.
The problem was the book was in Latin and Ric simply didn't know how to read a dead language. He considered it a fluke that he'd turned the counselor into a statue.
Josh returned and asked excitedly, "So who we gonna change to a statue next?"
Ric sighed and chose to ignore him. Heading for the living room, Josh followed after, talking a mile a minute. Sitting down on the couch, Ric told his brother after a bit, "No one, that's who. What we did was wrong and we have to reverse it."
A disappointed look spread over Josh's face and before Ric could stop him, Josh grabbed the book away and began to thumb through it, trying to make heads or tails of the Latin.
Stopping on a page, Josh announced, "This looks like the right one," and began to read aloud.
Ric wanted to stop his brother, but a strange feeling swept over him. From his hair down to his feet, a ticklish sensation swept over him. Inside, he could feel his internal organs doing something really strange. As all of this intensified, Ric heard his brother say, "Oops, that's not the right spell."
"What did you do to me?" Ric demanded, bothered by the fact that his voice sounded several octaves higher.
All Josh could do was laugh at this and then reply, "You look cute. A bit young, but definitely cute." At which point, he dropped the book and began to laugh harder.
Pushing past his brother, Ric dashed for the downstairs bathroom. Looking into the mirror, he wanted to scream. His hair was longer and now a dark shade of red, while his skin was paler and his eyes were now bluish grey. Thinking to himself, "I look like a girl," as he noticed he'd shrunk in height, Ric pulled down the shorts he was wearing.
Looking at the smooth flat crotch, he wanted to scream even more, because the truth of the matter was that Josh had turned him into a nine year old girl.
Pulling up her shorts, Ric dashed from the downstairs bathroom, calling out, "Josh, give me that book. I can't stay like this and neither can Mr. Mendes." Dashing upstairs, Ric found Josh standing in the hallway, outside his, err her, room.
Rushing up, Ric grabbed the book and stopped. Looking at the door that was partway closed, she saw that it read, 'Christina's Room: Keep Out'.
Pushing the door open, Ric grimaced as she looked about the room. It was clearly for a young girl as it was now painted white with a pink trim along the ceiling. The sheets and comforter where now white, pink and teal. All in all, the room could be described in two words; bright and feminine.
Looking at her brother, Christina said, "Fun's fun, now we have to undo this," and began to page through the book.
Not understanding Latin, wondering which one of these spells undid the what had happened to Mr. Mendes and which had changed Ric into a nine year old girl, Christina felt that maybe everyone was stuck as they were for the moment.
Presently Josh spoke up and offered the suggestion, "Why don't we try the local library for books on Latin, Ric. Or would it be Christina now?"
Looking at her brother, she replied, "For right now, it's Christine. And the library is an excellent idea. Just let me change out of these boy clothes and we can leave, okay?" And with that said, she ducked into her room to change.
Some time later, Christina had changed her clothes to a flowing dress that went down to her ankles, no underwear and a pair of sandals. As the brother and sister were ready to leave, Christina realized she really wasn't comfortable going out in public like this; after all, her body may be female, but her mind was still pretty much male. After a bit of hesitancy, they left for the library.
