Jake and Dean make their way to the third car and slide in. The seat is back far from the front of the car, so far they could practically lay down on the bottom. They sit back and look for some kind of restraint, but there aren’t any. Separating Dean and Jake is a small arm rest with a handle. Similar handles are on either side of them, so they both grab on tight.
The car fills up and the ride jerks to a start. The boys all yell and cheer as the ride ascends the first hill. Jake and Dean take deep breaths as the ride climbs up out of the warehouse and looks over the park. Jake looks down on all the places they’ve been, but then Dean draws his attention forward, “HERE WE GO!”
The ride comes over the first hill and zooms down. The boys all scream with excitement as it turns and curves. Then it hits small loops, but takes them so tightly the boys are glued to their seats. Then it slows down and climbs a second hill. Jake and Dean catch their breath as it comes up and races down again. The boys cheer as it dives into the cave shaped like the donkey’s head.
Inside the cave is a massive track the circles round and round a large scale model of the island. Makes several circles before leaving the chamber and entering what looks like a beer hall. It curves around it as robotic dummies of boys laugh and drink as you zoon by. The dummies shoot beer into the car from their mouths and the car slows down behind the bar counter. Jake and Dean slowly coast passed the boys at the bar as they laugh and drink. Then the car starts to make another climb out of the beer hall. They look up and see two Boy Dummies spilling a large barrel of beer in front of the car. It makes a water fall and all the boys open their mouths as they pass through.
Jake and Dean swallow mouthfuls coming out drenched on the other side. The car continues to climb and zooms down again, this time passing through a narrow alley made to look like Tobacco Row. Dummies spew smoke out of their mouths into the path of the ride as the car plows through the thick layer of smoke, leaving it swirling behind them.
The ride starts to slow down once more and a sign lights up ahead of them. It reads, “I hope you boys had a good time.” The train jerks and then starts to climb another very tall hill. On either side there are dummies of boys, but they all look rather sad. Some of them have their hands on their ears, and others are hiding their faces.
On either side of the train, there are dummies crying and then a crowd of boys around a single dummy. The audio of the boys sounds like a commotion and then they all quickly turn and face the train. Jake gasps at the sight. Several of the boys have long donkey ears, and a few boys have tails. The dummy in the center has the head and hooves of a donkey. Loud braying comes from the dummies as the climb continues.
Each of the next few dummies are boys in various states of change and they call out to the ride, “help me please, someone help.” “I’m want my mama.” “I don’t wanna be a donkey, please.” Jake and Dean are locked into starring at the dummies on either side. Then all the lights go out and it’s pitch black. “Dean,” Jake starts, “what’s going on?” But there’s no answer. Jake looks over at Dean through the darkness, just as the lights come back on.
Jake screams. Dean’s ears have grown long and are sticking out on top of his head. They’re covered in brown fur and twitch, but Dean is looking straight ahead. Jake slowly turns his head forward and sees a massive mirror. All the boys in the car have grown donkey ears, and so has Jake. He reaches up and grabs a hold of his new ears just as the car jets downward again.
The boys yells of joy have become screams of panic as the car races through tunnels. Jake pulls on his ears crying, “why is this happening?” Then Jake feels strange in his…
