She tells Marcia her entire life story, all the way up to the recent disciplinary problems of the last few months, followed by her disappearance. “Okay, I want you to go home, now. I’ll call you with what ever I find.” Mrs. McGovern is very compliant and hugs Marcia tightly, then leaves.
Marcia just sighs and looks at herself in a mirror, “what are you getting yourself into Marcia? Runaway teens?” She sighs. She fiddles around with her hair for a moment, “God I hope I can play at least 17.”
The next morning, John Anthony High School had a new, very mature looking student. Marcia tried her best to blend in, the bad memories of her own high school experiences of the book worm coming back to haunt her, but she new she had to play up the socialite if she was gonna get any leads. The days were agonizing, having to relearn stuff she didn’t want to learn or need to learn, all over again. However, she quickly made friends in the social circles and waited to hear the something in the halls.
“What island?” a girl laughs, while the other girls tell her to hush and lean in. Marcia casually drinks from a nearby fountain and listens in. “and there’s no drinking age,” says Pamela, a pirky blonde junior. “Sounds like it’s full of rapists,” Carrie, a tall skinny red head, jokes, “and it’s just girls?” Pamela nods, “I have a flyer I got when I was in the arcade with Jake. “Necking with Jake is more like,” smiles Savannah, a dark haired girl barely dressed to the school’s code, “so what’s it say?” The girls giggle as they look over the flyer, and Marcia makes her way to them. The quickly notice her butting in.
“You need something,” Savannah steps in front of the flyer. “Oh, no,” Marcia starts, “I just thought I heard you talking about Pleasure Island.” Savannah looks at the other girls and then back to Marcia, “why? What do you know about it?” Marcia just smiles, “I hear it’s amazing. You can do just about anything you want.” Pamela slides around Savannah with the flyer, “we’re going this weekend.”
Savannah, pushes Pamela back and takes the flyer and looks at Marcia, “yeah, but you’re not going.” Marcia just leers, “well, then maybe I’ll just take this to the principal.” Marcia takes out her copied flyer and flashes it to the girls. They’re shocked that she has one, “wow, where’d you get one,” Carrie asks. “Doesn’t matter,” Marcia replies, “so, am I in?”
