Sheriff Peterson stood gun drawn and shaking, while I has nose to nose with my undead, beastial, insurance agent.
Ken cleared his throat and looked directly at me. "I'm sorry I ran in front of your curiser Bob, but I was so scared....."
"Ken, have you any idea what we are looking at right now, I asked sorta' calmly?"
Ken looked down at his feet and wiggled a cloven hoof, "yup, I can imagine why Bob over there has his gun out and is pointing the thing at me! It's a story that most would say I'm nuts but when they see what happened to my bod then, well just like you two."
"I suggest you stay on the exam table, you've had an accident and may have internal injuries Ken!"
Sitting on the edge of the exam table he asked for a drink and I seconded it, even though I wished it wasn't water. "Ken how, I asked shrugging my shoulders?"
"What day is this, Ken looking around for a calander?"
"Saturday September 23, I said quickly, why?"
"Because dear friends it was Friday when Gertrude Kelly came into my office. She had the spects on the old mansion which she was going to by and make a bed and breakfast into. You both know how tough that ole' lady can be, heck she's been married six times! Well she wanted my opinion on the value of the structure. After some arguement I agreed to meet her at the place and look it over. As you both know that place has been vacant for years, and nobody goes there!
It was ten in the morning and we met outside the front iron gates. I looked at the huge old structure and thought it reminded me of the Munster's house on TV. We walked up the stone walk to the front porch and she unlocked those big oak doors. The place was more clean than what I expected and we moved about checking for bugs and or rodents. The tall ceilings and that curving stairway to the upstairs were in remarkable condition. That's when we both heard the deep hum!
I walked around till next to the staircase was a door to the basement. As I opened the door I saw a blueish dull glow coming from the basement. Gertrude started to bitch about what it could be and insisted we go and check. I was for calling the police and or fire department, and thinking about what happened I should have done just that!
The ole' girl pushed me ahead of her and down to the basement we went. I had a flashlight but by the time we reached the basement floor the blue light was making seeing just fine.
We walked around a block wall that must have been used to block the light rays coming out."
"OUT, out of what, yelled Bob!"
"The thing was a tall blueish white oval hole. It hummed of great power so much you could feel it in the concrete floor. Then Gertrude said something about what the hell is that thing, that's when we heard a voice.
The voice came from the strange thing, It said it was a time portal to past, present,future, events, places, and people of reknown. I asked when it had been used last? The steam rolled out of it as it told of some kids had come and asked to meet a woman of reknown back in Greek history. I asked are they there still? It replied no, the two had returned to their own time but were not in the same form as when they traveled.
Gertrude was getting angry at my questioning as she wanted to ask if it could become some attraction. I asked the thing about the kids, I was told they went thru the thing to meet Circe a Greek witch. That's when Gertrude asked to see where that place was? The steam cleared and we saw a mansion of white marble with beautiful landscaping. Brick pathways went everywhere and we saw a woman with long black hair standing waving and beconed us to come.
That's when that bitch of a woman gave me a push and I fell into that time and place.
