Jake turns his attention back to the screen, flipping through various menus until he finds one of interest, one on superpowers. Jake was a bit of a comic nut. Nothing extreme, but like many boys his age, he always wondered what it would be like to be a superhero. His favorite was Superman. He figured it had to do with the fact that he could fly, but also because overall he had the coolest superpowers.
Jake was amazed to find on the menu that he could select all of Superman's powers, even flying. He inputed all the data and pointed the gun at himself, pulled the trigger and found himself bathed in the familiar blue light. In a few moments, it was over.
He took a look at himself and found he had significantly more muscle definition, but was still wearing the same clothes and everything. He also noted he was the same age. He remembered he had forgotten to change his age, but that's okay. He didn't really want to be older, so Superboy would work in this case.
Jake decided to try flying a little, even though he was indoors. He slowly felt himself lift off the ground. Jake couldn't believe this was happening.
Suddenly, his sister walked into the kitchen. She saw Jake floating in mid-air but looked unfazed.
"Jake, you know what Mom said about flying indoors. She just got done washing all your fingerprints of the ceiling."
"Sorry," replied Jake as he slowly landed, feet softly touching the floor again.
"Why don't you go fight some crime or something. I know how you love that," she replied. "I think Mom just cleaned your costume. It should be hanging in your closet."
Jake's heart leapt into his chest. The costume! Of course, that was all part of the fun of being a superhero. He ran to his room, closing the door behind him. He set the Transformation gun down on his dresser and threw open his closet doors. He immediately saw the outfit hanging on a hanger in the middle of the closet.
He quickly pulled off his shirt and shorts and pulled on the familiar dark blue unitard. Over it, he pulled up the red trunks, with the yellow belt already fed through the belt loops. He grabbed the signature red boots that were sitting on the floor of the closet and pulled them on. He grabbed the long read cape and fed each arm through one of the straps on either side of the cape. He then reached down and pulled up the upper portion of the unitard, feeding his arm through each sleeve and revealing the large, geometric 'S' for the first time. He reached back and zipped up the unitard. Jake took a minute to admire himself in his full length mirror. He was wearing the suit. He couldn't quite believe it.
As an extra precaution, Jake grabbed the transformation gun and stashed it in the back of his closet, so it wouldn't fall into the wrong hands.
Jake walked out into the back yard. He looked up into the sky and quickly darted up and flew away, with a loud thunderous clap. He was off to fight crime and save people for the first time.
