You fight back the new personality with all your will. Your sobs have given way to a determined growl; there is no time to be showing weakness. Slowly, your true personality asserts itself.
Suddenly, your head snaps upward. A smile slowly begins to form on your face, as you realize that you have won. The maid personality has been beaten back, and you are in total control again.
But then, a look of concern crosses your face. How long would your victory last, you wondered?
Before you could ponder further, you hear a voice calling out. "Christine!" you hear it say. You turn around to see a woman walking toward you, dressed in a maid uniform just like the one you were wearing. "Christine, what's been taking you so long? You should've been done cleaning the guest house hours ago!"
Your mind began to race. Christine? Was that supposed to be your name? Had your transformation led to some sort of reality shift? You briefly consider telling this other maid your story, but decide you'd be better off going along with it. It may be easier to investigate the grounds while acting as part of the maid staff.
"I...guess there was a lot more cleaning to do than I thought," you say.
The other maid sighed, and looked at the pile of clothes at your feet. "And what are these?"
"I found them on the floor of the bedroom. Whoever stayed here last must've left them."
"Hmm. I suppose we should take them to be washed, then figure out what to do with them later. Come on." The other maid motioned for you to follow her, and began to walk toward the mansion. You picked up your old clothes and followed her.
Inside the mansion, you saw a number of maids and other servants walking around. Wanting to blend in as well as possible, you took note of the other maids' postures and tried to imitate it as best you could. Keeping your gaze fixed straight ahead, you made your way to the laundry room.
"Another set of clothes for you to wash, Emilia," your leader told one of the maids in the laundry room.
"Really, Andrea?" Emilia said. "I thought we've already collected the Masters' clothes for the day."
"These are from the guest house," your leader, Andrea, explained. "Not sure who they belong to, but I think we should at least wash them before figuring out what to do with them." She turned to you and nodded, and you handed Emilia the clothes.
"Come on," Andrea said to you, "it's time to report to the Master."
You followed Andrea to the study to meet the Master, the owner of the mansion. A very distinguished-looking man in his late 40s, he smiled when the two of you entered the room. "Ah, Andrea and Christine, my two favorite maids," he said.
"Greetings, Master," Andrea said, bowing her head. You quickly did the same.
"I'll bet you two are looking for more work, correct? Well, to be honest, it is getting rather late." You peeked at the window on the other side of the room to see that it had gotten quite dark out. You must've completely lost track of the time.
"I think you two have had enough work for today. You may retire to the maid's quarters for the night," he told you.
"Thank you, Master," you and Andrea said in unison, bowing your heads once again, and left the study.
A short time later, you were in the maid's quarters, removing your uniform and getting ready to go to bed. "Remember, we have to get up bright and early again tomorrow," Andrea said.
As you climbed into bed and rested your head on the pillow, you began formulating your investigation plan. You hoped that there was a way to reverse your transformation somewhere in the mansion, and that these quarters would not become your permanent home.
