Maria stormed down the stairs holding the yellow egg, mad that Andrew would do something so stupid like this, make up absurd stories, just to get out of the troubled he and Dani had landed in by being in her room and wearing her clothes. "I thought Dani was into that sort of thing, but I didn't suspect Andrew," Maria thought as she went and greeted her friends.
Telling them, "Met two other girls I just thought you'd get along with," she began to lead them upstairs.
Inside her room, Elizabeth and Tanya began to talk with Dani, failing to see that it was really her brother, while Jenny started to talk with Andrew, thinking she was talking to another girl. Unhappy that her friends hadn't caught on yet, Maria said, "Be right back," and stepped out of the room.
Outside in the hall, she quickly made her way toward the bathroom and closing the door, she thought, "Dammit! How could those two disguise themselves so well. I understand Mark missing it, but never in all my life would I have thought Tanya, Jenny and Elizabeth could have been fooled by two boys dressed as girls." Stepping up to the sink, she looked down at the purse that had been over turned on the sink.
Sighing, she began to push everything back into it, wondering briefly why there was three pairs of underwear for a five year old girl in the bottom of the purse. Seeing the two halves of the pink egg, she thought, "Damn you Andrew," and then brought her hand down on top of them, cracking the in two.
Looking at the smashed plastic, she pushed it into the trashcan next to the toilet. It was about then that she remembered that she was still holding the yellow egg and looking at it, she began to twist it about.
Finally pushing it inward and then twisting, she was surprised when the egg popped open and out popped two pieces of fabric. Setting down the egg, she picked them up and noted that one was a pair of white, little boys underwear with pictures of Transformers on them. "Dani used to wear an exact pair like these when he was four," Maria thought as she picked up the other piece of fabric.
It was black and unrolling it, she saw that it was a pair of boxer briefs and they looked like they might fit Dani. Wondering if she was going crazy, wondering if there was any truth to what Andrew had said, Maria exited the bathroom, leaving the yellow egg and the underwear on the sink.
Inside her room, she collected a shirt that was at least two time to big and telling the girls, "Be right back," headed for the bathroom again.
