The boys and girls scream as they climb the first hill. “Dean, we have to get off,” Jake starts to recover and shake the handle bars. “Dude, calm down, and enjoy the ride,” Dean holds him. They hit the loop and are both sucked to the back of their seats. The screams of delight fill the air at the top and Dean yells along with them as they dive down and enter the tunnel.
The tunnel is pitch black and full of twists and turns. The girls screams echo in the dark and then the ride slows down and lights come on. The ride has entered a playful storybook like scene. It looks like something from the Victorian era, with young boys and girls all laughing and playing in an old time amusement park. Animatronic boys and girls ride merry-go-rounds and line up for drinks at a wooden stand that reads “spirits.” Happy music plays along with the laughs of boys and girls.
Jake continues to loosen the bars, “We have to get out of here, I was right, they’re doing something to us. To the boys and girls.” Dean just watches as the scene continues. The bright colors start to fade and the animatronic boys and girls starts to look more and more terrified. They point at each other and the audio starts to play yells for help and sobs.
One animatronic boy has long donkey ears and a girl has a long tail. The fake boys and girls scream at each other for help as more and more of them have ears and tails. The roller coaster moves passed several that are leaning toward the ride. “Please help me, please help me,” a boy with long ears pleads. A fake girl with hooves for hands paws the air as Dean and Jake pass by, “Please,” she cries,” I don’t want to be a donkey.”
The boys and girls on the ride are very confused and start booing and yelling. Jake is about to lose and starts wriggling out from and handle when the ride takes another dive. The boys and girls scream once more in the dark.
The train car levels out and slows down again. The boys and girls laugh in the dark. The train comes to a complete stop and the boys and girls voices echo in the dark. People start calling out to move the ride. They yell gets deafening, but the car doesn’t move.
Then a loud noise quiets everyone up… “HEEEE HAWWW.” The bray echos in the dark and everyone is quiet. “HEE HAW HEE HAW,” it comes again. Then a set of groans breaks the silence, followed by more brays. Dean groans, so does Jake. “Jake, what’s happening?” Jake grabs his stomach, “I tried to tell you, they.. they..”
The lights come up and screams come from the car. All the boys and girls have started changing into donkeys. One girl has a full muzzle and is braying while trying to free herself. A few others bray as their muzzles start to grow. Girls pull on their ears and guys their tails. Jake looks at Dean, who now has a second pair of donkey ears stick up from his cap.
Jake grits his teeth has his shoes rip and a hoof grows out the tip of his right sock, quickly followed by his left. Jake watches as a girl in front of them has her hands on her face. He watches as her blonde hair turns dark brown and her ears shoot up. The top of her blouse rips as her neck stretches. Jake tries to jiggle the handle bar loose again and Dean helps this time. The pull on it and then Dean starts hitting it with his fists and lets out a moan. As Dean hits the bar, his hands darken and fur grows up his arms. Jake looks at him and sees Dean’s nostrils start to flare out and his lips thicken. “Somebawww deeee haawwwllp meee HAW HEE HAW HEE HAW.” Dean’s face grows out into a muzzle and his hands form into hooves.
Jake feels his ears start to burn and his pants getting tighter. Dean’s clothes rip off him as his body swells up and his hooves rip out of his shoes. “Dean… Noawww hee haw.” Jake covers his mouth. The only sound in the tunnel now is brays, and Jake knows it’s his turn. “He removes his hands from his mouth and convulses as he tries to hold in the brays.
His mouth aches as it grows and his clothing starts to rip. He looks down at his hands as they curl up into hooves and lets it all out, “HAW HEE HAW HEE HAW.” Jake finishes his changes and the handlebars on the train open up. And the donkeys fall forward as the car starts moving again.
The car comes out at ground level, near a massive coral and men start roping the donkeys and pulling them out. The man in red walks up to Jake and Dean who just bray at him. “I told you boys I’d see you again.”
