"Did you notice that these tokens look a bit like us?" asked Jen
confused.
"Indeed, I guess we did choose tokens, looking like us without seeing
really."
"Without consciously choosing them, you mean?"
Laisa translated it into Ruritanian, as a question whether she
understood it correctly and Jane nodded.
Content with this explanation, Jen rolled the dice onto the board.
She got a 7 and as if on a string, her token moved 7 spaces
forward. "A gray space, that means I must take one of the cards on
the main stack." she proclaimed from behind the instruction sheet.
She took a card and read it to the group: "Open your eyes, open your
mind, proud like a god you pretend to be blind." She was confused
about the meaning of this when the room suddenly went dark for
her. "Turn on the light again!" she demanded angrily.
"No one turned off!" said Laisa confused.
"But...! I see nothing! I am blind!"
"Come on, you are joking, aren't you?"
"I am not joking!!" genuine panic was in her voice.
"This game... is magic?"
Jane read the instructions of the game. "that is indeed what it seems
to be..."
Jen cursed "and I thought this was just a neat way to set the mood,
just metaphoric."
"Apparently it is not. And we need to finish it to reverse all
changes."
"Just ****ing great!" cursed Jen to the great surprise of the younger
women.
