Mean while Amber sulks thinking of how Bryan acted much like Keula before the human. Does she still even feel the same way about the malamute she wonders to herself? Bryan who even now watches the musher’s every move with wagging tail seems heedless to his mate’s current mood. But ever sense Bryan licked the musher’s hand he has not been troubled by wondering how he came to be part of the sled team. Memories of his early kennel life now firmly within his head he looks on the musher with the adoring look only a true dog could give.
The younger dogs take turns crowding close to the new bitch to get her scent much to the dismay and discomfort of Amber who dares not even pass out bites till her musher tells her its ok to move.
The musher also gets his share of attention as those not able to crowd close to Amber because of teammates in the way instead move to sniff the human. Each dog that gets a whiff of human scent pauses as if remembering a half-forgotten dream. Looking about these dogs look at themselves and give a confused whine. But the musher ever watchful is quick to pet and scratch these confused dogs. As the musher rubs his hands over the ears and back of each dog being careful to get as his own smell upon their fur the dogs slowly become more relaxed and take to trying to lick at his hands as if begging for treats. Memories of kennel life and being part of a litter now firmly in canine heads the once confused canines take to play wrestling with newly remembered litter mates no longer troubled by human scent among themselves or team mates.
