Katie was torn for a moment between her cartoon and the game. But then the show ended, so she went back to the table and looked at her cards; she had a black ten and queen, but she didn't want to grow up just yet. Her only red card was an eight, which would take her back to before she was born. She hadn't thought about that when she made the rules. Her new card, a red ten, didn't make things any easier.
Well, she could see how much of an unfair advantage she had. Tiffany hadn't said anything about her unfulfilled wish, so maybe her perception wasn't so secure as she thought.
Katie put the red eight down on the table, and announced defiantly, "A red three." Tiffany met her gaze and said nothing. Did she know?
After another moment, Tiffany broke the silence.
