Rachel suddenly heard music: The lady in red, is dancing with me, cheek to cheek... She looked down at the small table that now sat next to the new chair and discovered a red cell phone sitting there. Carefully, despite her extended nails, she managed to open it and raise it to one ear.
"Hello?" she asked.
A woman's voice on the other end said, "Hi, Rachel, this is Jennifer continuing our chat support."
"What?!" Rachel exclaimed. "What just happened? My computer disappeared!"
She heard typing, and then Jennifer said, "Ah, I see here that with the longer nails and certain changes to intelligence, we expect that Magia Rojo-using women will not use computers."
"Certain changes to --" Rachel was shocked. "How can we get along without computers?"
More typing. "One component to your new intelligence is that you'll be able to text- message very quickly, even with long fingernails. If you do need information from the Internet, however, we expect that you will ask a man to look it up for you."
"So, what I'm just supposed to --" Rachel groaned.
"I understand that you are not completely pleased with your transformation," said Jennifer. "I am authorized to increase your family's level of wealth as compensation. Please hold on."
"My family's what?!" Rachel loudly said into the phone, but all she got in response was the sound of tapping on a keyboard.
Then everything flashed white, and when Rachel's vision cleared, she was in a different bedroom. Actually, some of the furniture and some of the photographs on the walls were the same, but other than that, the room was larger, the windows were larger and a set of double doors led out to a balcony; there was now a separate sitting area around the now-wall-mounted TV; there was a round dining table with two chairs.
"My room changed!" exclaimed Rachel.
"Yes, it should have," said Jennifer. "I have increased your family's net worth to approximately 50 million dollars, and I see here that it has increased the size and luxury component of your primary residence --"
"No kidding," said Rachel, and it was then that she noticed the diamond bracelet that adorned her left wrist, not to mention the silver rings, one on each finger, some with gemstones and some more plain.
"Now, is there anything else that I can help you with?" asked Jennifer.
