A bird, a very nondescript bird building itself a nest, saw something shiny lying amongst some large rocks (the ruins, but, being a bird, it of course just saw "rocks"). On an impulse, it decided to add them to its nest. Picking it up, the bird brought the medallion to its nest high amongst the oddly symmetrical boulders of an ocean-side cliff. Little did the bird realize this "cliff face" was actually made up of cargo containers on a cargo ship about to set sail for the United States of America, and from there, the "cliff face" would be broken down, loaded on trains and/or trucks and head all over that nation, plus Canada and Mexico. (Why it makes financial sense to send a cargo container through the U.S.A. just to ship it out of that nation and to Mexico or Canada is something only Accounting can explain...!)
In any event, the bird was perfectly happy with its nest with the "shiny thing" mounted just right to catch the light in a fascinating fashion. The medallion, for its part, used its power to give the bird a healthy batch of eggs which turned into healthy baby birds who took flight when the ship docked in the USA, and were a quite successful invasive species. Thank you, O' Great Medallion!
Anyway, eventually the remnants of the nest, along with the medallion, where carried to:
