There was a sudden cold wind and a shadow blocked out the sun. Dan turned to see a shadow. It seemed to be a figure, but there was something wrong with it. There were six wings on the shadow. The air smelt of ozone and sulfur.
Dan looked up to see the face of the seraphim, and saw a blinding light. The sound of a thunder clap deafened Dan for a moment. He blinked and looked around. His shoulders and back felt suddenly lighter. He looked over his shoulder. It was odd. Had he been wearing his backpack? He shook his head. Just an odd feeling as though something had been on his back, and wasn't any longer. Dan no longer had memories of Nephilim or the Flood.
To Kat's chagrin, Dan was now immune to her spells. In fact, though Dan had no magic of his own, he seemed to be able to reshape Kat's magic.
She tried to transform Dan's bud Tommy into a rubber dog toy, and tried to change Dan into a dog. Dan found that he could see Kat's magic moving like liquid light through the air, as if in slow motion, and he reached out his finger tips and reshaped it. Kat only saw Dan raise his hand in a blurring motion, but from Dan's perspective he moved his hands methodically and slowly.
Kat whimpered as she trotted away with her tail literally between her legs. She retained her human head, but had the body of a French poodle, and there was an odd collar of invisible light around her neck. Having the paws of a dog, she couldn't make the necessary hand signs to break the spell, so she decided to call a friend for help. She didn't realize that part of her magic hung around her neck as a trap for whoever disturbed the invisible collar.
Kat used her nose and paws to speed dial...
