You hear the chirp of a cellphone - your cell phone- and the beeps of a number being keyed. You perk up your ears to hear what your master is saying on the phone.
Jack coughs into the phone, "Hello, yeah, I can't meet you today. Gotta cold," he says in a muffled voice, "Maybe laid up for a while." He goes on a coughing jag.
You recognize the voice on the other end of the conversation, but you can only think of the person's face and scent. You can't remember their name. Something is wrong with your memory.
Jack hangs up, and laughs heartily. Then you hear the click of another phone, dial tone, and the keying of numbers.
"Yo, Parker, you still willing to pay $750 for my dog?" Jack says.
"I thought he died?" says the man's voice on the other end of the phone.
You strain your ears harder to hear.
"Nah," laughs Jack, "He was sick, but he's completely healthy now. So $750?"
"Well..."
The base of your spine has been tingling the whole time you've been straining at your leash. Suddenly, you notice something swatting your butt like a stick. You turn and start to chase the tail that has sprouted from your backside.
"Well, I'll talk to you tonight, Parker, I've gotta get to work," Jack say hanging up.
Jack glances out the window to see you chasing your tail, and chuckles, "Oh, yeah, you're going to make a fine stud." Then he leaves for work.
